The intersection of University Avenue and Snelling Avenue is one of the busiest in all of the Twin Cities—a far cry from a century and a half ago, when the area between Minneapolis and Saint Paul was just a giant prairie. The Calling
Designed by world-renowned Artist Andy Scott, this 32.5-foot-tall and 89-foot-wide sculpture that is constructed of over 5,000 handcrafted stainless-steel feathers is one of the largest works of art in the Western Hemisphere. The statue, located on the corner of Snelling and University Avenues, depicts a majestic loon rising up in the water—a galvanizing symbol of the North Star state and an ode to the Minnesota United FC's mascot.
