Minnesota Songkran Festival
May 27, 2023
Overview
The Thai Cultural Council of Minnesota is bringing the Minnesota Songkran Festival back to the State Capitol this May in celebration of Thai New Year and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
On May 27 and 28, the Minnesota State Capitol will transform into an explosion of Thai cuisine, performances and vendors. There will even be a papaya eating contest! Minnesotans, Midwesterners and people from around the country will be able to ride tuk-tuks, rent a Thai costume, capture memories in a photo booth and indulge in tasty dishes like Thai Curry, Panang Curry and Mango sticky rice.
Other exciting elements this year include a Thai boxing demonstration and an appearance from Miss Universe Thailand.
Admission is free and people of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to come experience Thailand without a passport!
