Eat & Drink
Whether you are looking for a pre-game bite or post-game celebration, you'll find it in Saint Paul.
Lucky you. Your team is competing in a city with one of the best food scenes in the nation--in fact, we won USAToday's 10Best Local Food Scene. Whether you're looking for something simple or celebratory, this dining guide will help you out.
Your team might move better together on the ice than off of it, so you're lucky that some group-friendly restaurants sit close to the Xcel Energy Center. Locals will rave about the Italian food at Cossetta's as much as you let them, and its cafeteria-style layout makes this an easy stop for everyone. Hockey teams particularly get a kick out of Tom Reid's Hockey City Pub, a sports bar with a ten-foot TV and hockey memorabilia from wall-to-wall.
Minnesota is known for its burgeoning beer scene, and we have plenty of places that do food and beer really well. The closest option to the Xcel Energy Center is Great Waters Brewing Co., a brewpub that knows its beer best because it makes it. Near Saint Paul’s landmark Cathedral, you’ll find one of CraftBeer.com’s best beer bars in America, The Happy Gnome, which features incredible food and a wicked 89-tap bar. Of course, you can also head to the source of great beer and check out Surly Brewing Company, where the food and the beer has created a cult of Minnesota craft beer-drinkers.
Still not sure where to go, but you know what you want? Don’t sweat it. We have blogs for the best pizza, the best burgers (we have a lot of Juicy Lucy options) and the best atmospheres without TVs. Peruse at your leisure, and let us know what you pick!
