Rocky Roots Walking Tour
August 12, 2026 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Overview
ROCKY ROUTES WALKING TOUR DATES:
June 10th, 10 am
July 8th, 10 am
August 12th, 10 am
With permission from Ramsey County Historical Society, this tour will explore the geological and architectural uniqueness of downtown St. Paul’s stone buildings. Most of the stone used in these buildings were sourced from quarries outside of the St. Paul area, with many being from the Midwest. Every stone carries an ancient story, and every building – a human creation of imagination and toil. This tour will bring to light a few fragments of these stories, where the stone of the earth came together with human ingenuity in architecture and craft. This tour concentrates on Landmark Center and the surrounding neighborhood.
Please make sure to arrive and find parking about ten minutes before the tour starts. Tours depart from Landmark Center’s Visitor Information Center located on the first floor by the 5th street entrance.
Tours are held rain or shine (except in severe weather). The tour groups are limited to 20 participants.
Also note that if potential lightning is in the forecast for the time of the tour, or one hour prior, tours will not take place. Be sure to check our social media page for the most up-to-date information in the case of inclement weather.
June tour date reservations will be open as of May 4th. July tour date reservations will be open on June 1st, and August tour date reservations will be open on July 6th.
