Dive into the history of medicine during one of our special "Health of a Garrison" days at Historic Fort Snelling.
In the historic fort, hear what medical care for the soldiers would have entailed. Check out new displays in the Hospital building, including the Civil War field hospital, steward’s quarters, library and kitchen. At 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., see a vignette presentation in the Hospital Ward Room demonstrating the challenges a garrison physician faced.
Meet a guide in the Visitor Center and explore the restored prairie! Short tours throughout the day will highlight native plants, their uses and their importance to Native American communities.
