Overview
Fuzzy Math has been a fixture on the Twin Cities scene for well over a decade now. The group is led by Mark Vandermyde, a classically trained pianist and organist who began migrating from Mozart to Miles in middle school, studied composition at Harvard University, and banged around with blues bands for a while after college until rediscovering his love of jazz, and writing, and writing jazz. Since then, he’s managed to surround himself with some of the finest players in town (Andrew Schwandt on tenor sax, Matt Peterson on bass and Haralds Bondaris on drums) to help him bring to life his vision of creating music that’s interesting, accessible and fun … serious music that doesn’t take itself too seriously and offers something for everyone.
They recently released their 5th CD unveiling a new iteration of their uniquely eclectic blend of original songs and creative pop/rock/folk covers for which the Minnesota Star Tribune once named them to its Best of Minnesota list for “best jazz act for people bored with jazz."
