Lara/Larissa is a misfit in rural South Dakota—half-Native and half-White, weighed down by physical limitations. She takes beginner ballet class for physical therapy and hates it—until the story of Osage prima ballerina Maria Tallchief inspires her to pursue a professional dance career.
