Join for a poetry reading with poets Mary Kay Rummel, Daniel Thomas, and Thomas Smith.
Mary Kay Rummel grew up in Saint Paul, she was the first Poet Laureate of Ventura County, California. Little River of Amazements: New and Selected Poems is her tenth published poetry book, her eighth full collection. Her work has appeared in numerous regional, national, and international literary journals and anthologies and has received several awards, including ten Pushcart nominations. Her poems have been published in many journals and anthologies including Water Stone Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, MiraMar, and more. A Professor Emerita from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, Mary Kay also taught at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and at California State University, Channel Islands.
Daniel Thomas was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Daniel has an MFA in poetry from Seattle Pacific University, as well as an MA in film and a BA in literature. His graduate degree in film led him to Twin Cities Public Television, where he was the video editor of an Emmy Award-winning national PBS series and producer of local documentaries. He went on to become COO of the PBS station. He has published poems in many journals, including Southern Poetry Review, Nimrod, Poetry Ireland Review, Atlanta Review, and others.
Thomas R. Smith poet, teacher, writer, and editor based in River Falls, Wisconsin. His poems were included in Editor's Choice II (The Spirit That Moves Us Press), a selection of the best of the American small press, and in The Best American Poetry 1999 (Scribner). His work has reached wide national audiences on Garrison Keillor's public radio show Writer's Almanac and former US Poet Laureate Ted Kooser's syndicated newspaper column, American Life in Poetry. His poetry criticism has appeared in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Great River Review, Ruminator Review, and other periodicals. He is a Loft Foreword Program poetry instructor at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis.
