Overview
Take a driving fiddle tune, add high energy percussive footwork, mix in “hambone” body percussion and what do you get? A fun evening of live string band music with some of the finest Appalachian-style cloggers in the Twin Cities.
Clog-O-Rama will bring back to life original choreography performed from 1998-2006 by the five-woman troupe GIRLGERMS percussive dance ensemble. Dances like Sofie on the Sidelines, named for a dancer’s (then) months old baby who came along to practices during its creation will be featured along with the jumpin’ barn burner Diamond Dance, a sweet little four-hand Shortenin’ Bread, and more. Performing the dances will be a mixture of the original GIRLGERMS and current and past members of The Wild Goose Chase Cloggers (i.e., the “Geese”), the premier local Appalachian clogging company who has been delighting audiences since 1979.
The show will also feature a set by the current “Geese,” the three-some Pomp and CircumStomp, and free-style cloggers whose steps can’t be predicted! Old-time fiddle and banjo player Eric Lind will lead kickin’ tunes with a string band of local musicians.
