Winter Arts Camp – Passport to Russia: From Moscow to St. Petersburg
December 22, 2025 to December 23, 2025
Overview
December 22-23 and 29-30
Russia is one of the largest countries in the world bordering Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. Kids ages 6 – 12 will join ArtStart artists for a whirlwind tour of Moscow, the capital of Russia, and St. Petersburg. Then they'll create art inspired by famous Russian composers and artists, as well as beautiful folkart traditions.
Kids will get creative over winter break with two fun, two-day camp sessions—come for one or enjoy both! Each day pairs a hands-on art project with a guided activity led by friendly, local teaching artists.
Session One (Dec 22–23): Make your own colorful Russian nesting dolls with Jeanette Dickinson—sketch, paint, and personalize a set that fits one inside the other. Then join Karen Anderson to explore the onion domes of St. Basil’s and Ivan the Great’s Bell Tower, and create a sunset painting of Moscow’s most iconic skyline.
Session Two (Dec 29–30): Roll up your sleeves with Gustavo Boada to hand-build a traditional Dymkovo clay figure using air-dry clay and paint pens. Then listen to Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf with puppeteer Julie Boada, craft finger puppets for each character, and put on a mini show for family and friends.
