Overview
Synthetic Streams
An Exhibition by Erik Jon Olson
Using quilted plastic waste, Erik Jon Olson creates works that confront consumerism, mass consumption, and unfettered capitalism. Layering environmental concerns with social justice, the art underscores humanity’s alienation from nature and each other, exposing our wastefulness and need for healing.
Olson’s process follows an ethos of minimal waste: each piece uses discarded plastics, pallet wrap for batting, overstock or gifted thread, and secondhand sewing machines. Even scraps are saved for future works, reinforcing the message of sustainability in the art itself.
Join us Thursday, October 16 from 5-7 pm in the North Gallery at Landmark Center for the exhibit opening. The opening will include wine and other light refreshments.
