Lori Sturdevant retired in January 2019 after 43 years at the Star Tribune, 26 of them as an editorial writer and weekly columnist covering state politics and government. She has been the author, ghostwriter, or editor of 11 books, including Her Honor: Rosalie Wahl and the Minnesota Women’s Movement, The Pillsburys of Minnesota, and When Republicans Were Progressive by Dave Durenberger. She is a three-time winner of the Minnesota Book Award.
US Congressman Martin Sabo’s early work in Minnesota state government set the mold for how state legislatures across the country have operated since and continues to wield influence today. Best known as US Representative of Minnesota’s Fifth District, Martin Sabo also made significant contributions to American political life while serving in the Minnesota state Legislature. Enhancing Sabo’s rich legacy, this volume focuses attention on his early career and the systemic, foundational contributions to governance that his efforts accomplished.
