Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost to skate at the rink?  Skating is FREE at Wells Fargo WinterSkate.

If I am under 18 and my parents will not be with me at the rink, can I have them sign the waiver and bring it with me? Yes, you can download the WinterSkate Waiver, have your parents sign it and bring it with you.

How much does it cost if you need to rent skates? Skate rental is just $4 per person, but if you have a Wells Fargo Check Card or credit card, rental is FREE (one card=one rental)!

I lost an item at the rink. Who do I call? During the season, you can call the warming house.

Do you have a skate sharpener? No.  But we recommend George's Shoe Repair on Grand Avenue.

What size skates does the rink carry? Youth, Junior, and Adult figure and hockey skates are available to rent. NOTE: We are running low on the following skate sizes: 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 in hockey skates. A wait during busy times could occur if you need these sizes.

Can you bring food to the rink? You cannot bring food into the warming house, although there are many great restaurants within walking distance from the rink.

Are there lockers? No

Where do I park? Visit our “Getting Here” page for parking information.

How do I know if the rink is open? Regular open skating hours are below, but the schedule is always subject to change. Please follow us on Facebook for up-to-date information regarding rink closures and other helpful information.

Regular Open Skating Hours:

Monday – Thursday: 11am – 4:50pm
Friday – Saturday: 11am – 10pm
Sunday: 11am – 4:50pm

Does the rink close for bad weather? Daily skating at the Wells Fargo WinterSkate ice rink will not be canceled, unless the actual air temperature or wind-chill reaches -25 degrees F or colder or other severe weather conditions exist.

Does the rink close due to warm weather? Not usually. The rink is artificially-chilled which means that we have coils below the ice to keep it cold, even in warm temperatures.

Can I play hockey at the rink during open skating hours? No

Can we bring chairs or skate trainers on the ice to assist children in skating?  For safety reasons these are not allowed on the rink.

Who puts this all together?  Wells Fargo WinterSkate is presented by Visit Saint Paul, the City's Official Convention and Visitors Bureau.
