The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra: Haydn’s Salomon Symphony: “What Makes It Great?®” with Rob Kapilow
February 16, 2024 to February 17, 2024 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Overview
Artistic Partner Rob Kapilow returns to the SPCO to lead a deep dive into Franz Joseph Haydn’s final symphony, named after musical impresario Johann Peter Salomon, who brought Haydn and his music to great acclaim in London. In the first half of the concert, Kapilow demonstrates how the “father of the symphony” came to expand and define the genre while still exploring new ideas in his Symphony No. 104. This interactive demonstration will be followed by a complete performance of the work in the second half of the program.
