Get ready for a joyful, dance-worthy celebration of Balkan music as Orkestar Bez Ime (OBI) returns to the Celtic Junction! This acclaimed Twin Cities ensemble has been bringing the sounds of Eastern European village celebrations to life since 2002.
A who’s who of the local Balkan music scene, OBI features bold, border-crossing vocals and dizzyingly ornamented melodies from violin, clarinet, and accordion. Their rhythm section—anchored by bass, guitar, Bulgarian tambura, and drums—drives every tune with irresistible energy.
With a repertoire stretching from Albania to Ukraine and deep roots in Romani traditions, OBI has earned accolades including a McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians and a Minnesota Emerging Composers Award. They bring not just music, but a whole-hearted, communal experience to the stage.
