Cook Fresh with Juche

Join us for an unforgettable evening at Urban Roots, where you'll cook a delicious meal alongside Chef Chris Her of Juche, our Cook Fresh staff, and each other. This hands-on experience will guide you through preparing a flavorful menu, giving you a true "taste" of the Cook Fresh program. After cooking, sit down and savor your meal together.

Menu (featuring veggies from Urban Roots):

-Korean BBQ with chicken or tofu

-Japchae (noodles with veggies)

-Banchan (side dishes, including cucumber kimchi)

-Drinks: beer and non-alcoholic options

About Chef Chris Her of Juche:

Juche - located just north of Urban Roots - "serves some of the Cities’ finest Korean fare," according to Eater. Chef Chris Her grew up on the East Side and previously worked at Union Hmong Kitchen. Learn more at JucheStPaul.com.

About Urban Roots and the Cook Fresh Program:

Urban Roots is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides paid internships to youth on the East Side of Saint Paul. Youth interns develop leadership, entrepreneurial, and life skills through our Market Garden, Conservation, and Cook Fresh Programs. Each year, up to 85 youth interns, ages 14-24, participate in our progressive, tiered programming, connecting to one another and the world around them. Cook Fresh interns gain valuable skills in food preparation, safety, and planning while also learning about nutrition, career opportunities, and the cultural importance of food.
