Backstage Pass: Llamas
August 20, 2022 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
Overview
What does it take to get our herd of llamas ready for the day? Help our animal care staff open the Llama Trek habitat for the day and find out. After we drive behind the scenes and meet our herd of llamas, we will put you to work. But walking your favorite llama to their habitat is one chore no one will pass on. As you introduce yourself to the llamas, also enjoy time feeding them treats and taking as many selfies as you can handle. The last chore for the morning is getting the guinea pigs ready for the day. No halters needed for these little balls of fur and energy, and no threat of spitting either. While you’re busy hanging out with the animals, learn about a few of the Minnesota Zoo’s conservation projects around the world, including saving wild chinchillas in South America. This program includes walking down a small hill over uneven terrain. If you are unable to do so, please contact us at educate@mnzoo.org so we can adjust the experience to fit your needs. Minimum 6 years old; participants younger than 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
