The Lowertown Blues and Funk Festival returns to Mears Park with a night of soul and funk on Friday, July 21, followed by a day of blues on Saturday, July 22. It’s the Twin Cities’ largest, free blues festival—with an extra dose of funk.

The Lowertown Blues and Funk Festival returns to Mears Park with a night of soul and funk on Friday, July 21, followed by a day of blues on Saturday, July 22.  It’s the Twin Cities' largest, free blues festival—with an extra dose of funk. The Friday night lineup includes Average White Band, Chase & Ovation performing a salute to the music of Prince, and Mick Sterling and The Stud Brothers.  Saturday’s blues lineup includes blues and soul staples Thomas Castro and the Painkillers, Shannon Curfman, The Jimmys, Renée Austin, Colin Campbell and the Shackletons, and more on the Main Stage.  A second stage, the Juke Joint Stage, will also feature the sounds of the McNally Smith Ensemble, Ken Valdez, Brother Jon, Paul Haaland & Moses Oakland, and Alex “Crankshaft” Larson.
