West Side

The West Side is home to Saint Paul's most active Latino community, with a host of businesses and restaurants within its District del Sol bringing cultural flavor to the city.

Located on the west side of the Mississippi River, this area boasts some of the city’s top attractions, as well as District del Sol, an area committed to preserving the neighborhood’s authentic Latino heritage. Here you’ll find the Wabasha Street Caves and a taste of the 1930s gangster era, the beautiful Harriet Island Regional Park with access to the river, the Covington Inn—a floating bed and breakfast, and the Padelford Riverboats offering narrated cruises from May through October. The sights and sounds of the neighborhood and delicious smells from El Burrito Mercado and Boca Chica bring Latino culture to life. The annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is an outdoor festival featuring music, food and dance celebrating the West Side’s Mexican heritage.
