Saint Paul is dedicated to environmental sustainability, ranking 4th on the 2010 list of “Greenest Cities in America,” by National Geographic Magazine . Saint Paul RiverCentre, the city’s state-of-the-art meeting and convention center, along with Xcel Energy Center, a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility, have united to become regional leaders in green practices and eco-friendly innovation.
Saint Paul RiverCentre is one of the first meeting and event venues in the United States to provide compost containers in public areas so attendees can aid in reducing the amount of waste generated. In March 2011, installation of the area’s largest solar thermal array was completed on the convention center’s roof. Additional eco-friendly innovations include electric car charging stations in the RiverCentre Parking Ramp and a campus-wide energy management plan. Saint Paul RiverCentre and Xcel Energy Center are committed to creating a positive experience for their event guests, which includes incorporating a wide range of sustainable practices to reduce our global footprint.
Saint Paul’s commitment to “green” can be seen across the entire East Metro, with attractions, destinations, hotels, and even parking ramps joining the eco-friendly movement.
